February 21, 2011 – The Joy of Sibling Harmony

The room wafts with laughter from two kids who normally pride themselves in annoying each other. They have found a common interest.

And for now – they are trading funny jokes and cheering each other on.

For now.

I am sure something will jolt them out of this bliss soon.

But not me – the joy that overflows my heart to hear our children giggling as friends and not enemies may be enough to get through until the next time they like each other.

For now.

February 20, 2011 – Hot Flashes and Sore Throats

Just a title tonight – an idea for a future piece. I promised that even if I could actually write, I would at least throw out some ideas to keep my brain from completely shutting down.

What about –

Memories That Don’t Know Their Rightful Place

Happenstance and the Stairway that Goes Up

Phone Call to the Living Room

Nauseous Days of Whine and Poses

Touch the Glass

Why Do the Good Shows Always Get Canceled?

Who’s Up for a Pause?

Heavy Eyelids Can Tangle Hair

That should be plenty for me to mull about for now – some of them might even stir my aching brain later this week.

We’ll see. I’m not going to give up for long just because I have to for now.

February 18, 2011 – Geodynamic 7-Layers Dip

In a separate week, simmer stressful situation. Set aside to stew.

Spread minor disturbances in fresh week, adding a few each morning and afternoon.

Sprinkle 2 days worth of questions on top of disturbances.

Remove stressful situation from stew and distribute on top of questions.

Spread annoyance very slowly on top of stressful situation.

Slather exhaustion on top of annoyance.

Pour responsibilities over exhaustion and spread evenly.

Sprinkle remaining questions, adding ridiculous outrage, urgent requests and encroaching deadlines as the topper.

This can be served immediately before ingredients have a chance to integrate, or put on ice over night to serve cold the next day making sure to keep the layers separate.

Room temperature allows everything to grow just a bit of salmonella on the brain for that extra bonus flavoring.

It’s not the worst thing in the world to endure…
